Nurse’s Passion for Hiking and Helping Seniors Pacific Crest Trail Fundraiser for Meals on Wheels.

About Monica’s Journey

Monica Reinoso, 60, is a local nurse with a soft spot in her heart for older adults. Also an avid hiker, Monica decided to combine two of her passions to help change her community.

On July 15th, Monica started her hike on the Pacific Crest Trail. The 455-mile journey of the Oregon section will last almost six weeks, but she won’t be alone. Monica is hiking with two other women: a trail friend and a fellow nurse inspired by Monica’s passion. Her faithful companion Theo, a four-year-old yellow lab, will not be able to join her on the trail this year, but the family will follow along in a support van.

Monica is using her passion for hiking for a very special purpose: helping feed hungry seniors. “I like that Meals on Wheels is a community. It provides a connection for isolated seniors.”

Monica aims to raise $10,000 for the Homage Meals on Wheels program.
