Tailored Support for Older Adults
The Tailored Supports for Older Adults (TSOA) and Medicaid Alternative Care (MAC) are two programs under MTPD, and both have the same goal: To provide supports to help keep individuals in their homes and out of a nursing home, assisted living facility, or long-term care facility. The eligible person needing care may live alone or live with an unpaid caregiver/helper. The TSOA and MAC programs can also provide supports to these unpaid caregiver/helpers, providing supports to help them continue to provide care, while also focusing on their own health and well-being. TSOA and MAC are free to participate in without recovery or penalty.
Note: A “caregiver” is a helper. This can be any person who provides supports, even minimally, and does not need to be a spouse or family member. Providing personal care is not required.
